[ F K ] News & Views - Around the World

An ABC news piece that ran yesterday morning attracted attention after four Pakistanis who were being interviewed about the attitudes and life of young people in Pakistan declared Osama Bin Laden to be a creation of western intelligence and stressed that Islamic extremist attitudes towards the west were virtually non existent in their country before 9/11.  Click here to read full article and watch video

This is getting played all over the mainstream media.

At the risk of being prematurely jubilant, it looks like the invasion of Iran has just been canceled!

There is still the possibility of a lone nut head-of-state trying to restart the wars with a false-flag attack, but right now, it looks like the war wagon just ran off the road to Tehran! - M. R.

A new U.S. intelligence report says Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003 and it remains on hold, contradicting the Bush administration's earlier assertion that Tehran was intent on developing a bomb.

Kidnappers who seized five Britons in Baghdad in May have released a video demanding Britain pulls out of Iraq.
This is a false-flag, and the reason is simple. Now and only now, when Britain is on the verge of pulling out anyway, "kidnappers" grab a hostage and demand Britain do what Britain is clearly about to do anyway, so that now Britain cannot leave without looking like they gave into terrorist's demands. - M. US says it has right to kidnap British citizens US says it has right to kidnap British citizens

A senior lawyer for the American government has told the Court of Appeal in London that kidnapping foreign citizens is permissible under American law because the US Supreme Court has sanctioned it.

The American government has for the first time made it clear in a British court that the law applies to anyone, British or otherwise, suspected of a crime by Washington.

I guess, then, that countries around the world have the right to kidnap American nationals for suspected crimes and bring them back to their countries.

Hey, folks, we have some people who really deserve this..

These consist of that vile managerie of carnage-enabling neocons who lied us into these wars without end.

And under this 19th century bounty-hunting law, they can be anywhere here or abroad and legally apprehended. Sauce for the goose, sauce for the gander, right? - M. R.

Eating Iraq: Corruption Rules and Cholera Rises While Insurgents Surf the Surge

on the ground in Iraq, where some good reporting still filters through the white noise machine of the corporate media, the picture is much different. Iraq is being eaten alive by the corruption of collaborators with the American occupation, by the relentless spead of disease and extreme privation -- and of course, by continuing violence, including the increased use of civilian-slaughtering airstrikes by the "surging" American forces, and by "ethnic cleansing" and other brutal operations by terrorists and sectarian militias now in the pay of the Bush Administration.

That continuing violence can clearly be seen in the latest report from IraqBodyCount.org, which estimates that at least 1,100 Iraqi civilians were killed by war-related violence in November, including at least 75 civilians killed directly by U.S. forces. This is what the great and the good in America now call "success." (And remember, IBC's estimates routinely err on the side of caution; they are to be regarded more as baseline figures, not totals.)
